History

Ivy Vine Charities, Incorporated (originally Theta Omega Omega Charities, Incorporated) was founded in 1994 by the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Theta Omega Omega Chapter. As a 501 (c)(3), Charities, as the foundation is known, is an outgrowth  of the dedication to providing exemplary community service activities in Montgomery County, Maryland. Charities provides college scholarships and book awards annually to graduating high school seniors in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area. Charities also promotes community service activities and contributes to local, national and international organizations. Ivy Vine Charities relies on support from individuals, businesses and foundations for funding to carry out its community service programs. Fundraising events have included:  debutante cotillion; crabfeast,  golf tournaments, 5K walks and a father daughter dinner dance. As a recognized 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, contributions are deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
